Apply to a trip
What a trip looks like
Trips run 7–10 days and travel to rural communities in Guatemala or the Chiapas region of Mexico. MDP covers the cost of in-country logistics — your main expense is the trip fee, which covers flights, housing, meals, and supplies.
Teams are small, usually 12–15 people. You'll work alongside the same community partners MDP has built relationships with over 20 years.
Roles needed on a trip
Medical Volunteers
Doctors, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, nurses, and other medical personnel provide primary care — diagnosis, education, medication management. Many of our medical volunteers return trip after trip.
Interpreters
Spanish speakers are essential to everything we do. You'll work directly with patients alongside our providers, and help the broader team navigate travel, shopping, and logistics. It's one of the most relationship-rich roles on the team.
Pharmacy Volunteer
No medical training needed. You'll learn MDP's pharmacy system and take on the crucial work of keeping medications organized, labeled, and flowing smoothly through the clinic. Past pharmacy volunteers say it's more rewarding than they expected.
Nurse / Clinical Support
RNs, LPNs, CMAs, and EMTs handle patient intake, vitals, wound care, and triage. You'll work closely with providers throughout the clinic day.
