True Teamwork

Our second clinical day was SO busy, but really ran smoothly. We had all of the equipment we needed, the courtyard was covered, there was a nice breeze, and after Monday, we felt confident. We saw 62 patients, mostly mothers and children. A few dogs hoped they could sneak in for the shade, but got routinely shooed away. It’s great having so many people taking advantage of the clinic and even going home to get more family. Watching everyone work is fun-Yazmin and Miriam are such an amazing team and are so sweet and gentle, reassuring patients, and getting them ready for the doctors. Emily, Sarah, and Isabel patiently listen, diagnose, consult, and treat as much as we have the resources for. Today, Isabel and Cameron even did a home visit a few blocks from the clinic. I got to hold a sleeping infant while mom got an exam. And the pharmacy kept meds filled and stocked. After a long clinic day, we packed up and went to the Women’s Center for a medicinal plant walk, herbal tea, and shopping. For many of us, The Women’s Center is our favorite place.
Mostly a day of highs, but we’re sad that Carla won’t be joining us the rest of the week, and the nurses would love a children’s finger monitor.
So much to smile about
