Treasures and Stretches

Shared by Pam

Today was our last clinic with the Mission and Minnesota Doctors for People. We set up in the community building at the central parque, only a few blocks from the mission. Another great day of families. Total count for the week was 248 people. What a blessing and privilege to offer care to so many folks!

Some treasures-

- the way we were able to work as a team, not having met until this trip.

-how well organized the week was.

- the nurses “making do” when we were missing equipment.

-being the “voices” for the grandmas and babies.

-the importance of small things, such as glasses or exchanging a few words in Spanish.

-reconnecting with old friends, making new friends, and meeting new “family” members.

Some stretches-

-the heat

-missing equipment suitcases

-dogs barking all night

-wondering about how the poverty we would experience would affect us.

-being conflicted and uncomfortable about having to end clinic mid afternoon.

We are each taking home something that touched us and changed our lives
