Guatemala here we come…
Hello all from the newest MDP team on their way to San Lucas Toliman! I am writing to you from the Chicago O’Hare airport where we as a team have finally all united in person for the first time as the team this trip is from multiple states - Minnesota and Virginia and Illinois and Colorado. We are all very excited to be traveling to serve alongside the people of San Lucas. Let me introduce you to our team members.
Providers:
Emily - Emily is an experienced NP and MDP traveler fluent in Spanish who is heading back to San Lucas as the co-leader of the team. She is most excited to reconnect with people at the mission
Isabel - Isabel works as a geriatrician in Chicago and is traveling on her first MDP trip! Isabel is also fluent in Spanish
Sarah - I’m currently a 3rd year Pediatrics resident physician and the other team co-leader. I’ve traveled with MDP as a pharmacy assistant and interpreter but never as a provider so I’m excited to be able to travel as a physician!
Nurses:
Miriam - Miriam is an experienced nurse of many years in Chicago who is back for another with MDP
Yazmin - Yazmin is a nurse traveling with MDP for the first time from Minnesota
An absolutely amazing bonus is that both of our nurses are fluent in Spanish!
Interpreter
Miles - in “real life” Miles works in the ER but this week will be working as our team’s interpreter on his first MDP trip!
Pharmacy
Pam - This is Pam’s first MDP trip but not her first time in San Lucas. She says she is thrilled to be going back to San Lucas and doing something this exciting!
Winnie - Winnie is an anthropologist and a “somewhat retired” Episcopal priest also traveling with MDP for the first time
So there’s our (hopefully) short and sweet intro! We hope to keep the MDP blog updated regularly with posts or photos! I hope you enjoy traveling along with us!
¡Nos vemos!
Sarah
